Fantastico Flamenco
Aug 5th
Visual artist Claudia, of Phat Puppy Art surprised me with a beautiful piece of work today. She upgraded an image I shot of a flamenco dancer. I love the textures and color saturation that really make the original image pop. Check out her other works of art here Thanks for sharing, Claudia!
Victory!

Todayś football (soccer) match between the United States and Algeria was one of the most frustrating and rewarding I have ever seen. The U.S. needed this win to advance to the next round of the World Cup. Last week there were 32 teams and now there are 16. We earned this. After a 1-1 tie with England, a 2-2 tie with Slovenia that should have been a 3-2 win, the US tried to take care of business. I say ¨tried¨ because they worked hard for it. They got the goal one minute into stoppage time after a frustrating 90 minutes of More >
Write The Future

I freakin love this Nike commercial for the upcoming World Cup. Visually stunning, humorous and enough to pump me up. Also a subtle reminder that you are in charge of what happens…until you get denied. =)
Don’t Tread On Me
May 31st
Every four years the world watches one of the greatest sporting events and it is that time again. No, I am not talking about the Olympics. I am referring to the FIFA World Cup 2010. I laugh every time we here in America get excited about our sports championship games like “super” bowl or the “world” series. They are neither super nor worldly.
Every four years when the United States competes on a truly global scale we get humiliated by opposing national teams whether it be football (soccer), rugby, Olympics, etc. Don’t get me wrong, I love this country and More >
To The Moon!
May 27th
OK, so after last week’s NASA visit, we’re still in space mode around here. Last night we watched the Discovery Channel’s DVD series “When We Left the Earth” and was just amazed as always. id you know that there were 2 Gemini capsules flying in formation for hours before the Apollo missions? Nope, neither did I. Daphne continues to love all things space including the moon, rocket ships. This video here has both! I love the creativity and fun here.

Photographer’s Weekend
May 9th
This weekend Daphne and I spent a lot of time together while WonderWife went to a ladies retreat at church camp. First up was the Katy Photographer Meetup where we walked around La Centerra. The challenge was a point & shoot shootout using only PnS cameras and not our big DSLRs.
thanks Don!
Daphne snapped away with her Olympus and I borrowed Jenny’s Canon. Afterwards we all met in the library to see everyone else’s perspective. I forgot to bring a card reader and we couldn’t view her images. I’ll post them online soon. We had to excuse ourselves early as we drove More >
PIXELS

The return of 8-bit characters that trash New York City is simply brilliant. The great High def video combined with over-pixelated graphics is not to be missed, so here it is.
Out Of This World
Mar 18th
Daphne & I had the opportunity to view a prescreening of IMAX’s new film, Hubble last night. Not only was it on the biggest screen (the only way to see a space film) but it was also shown in 3D. Upon arrival at the Houston Museum of Natural Science, we had the pleasure of meeting the Director of Online Media, Erin. She greeted Daphne with our tickets, a mission patch and a lapel pin. We then secured our cool 3D shades and then filed into the massive theater.
I watched her sit calmly in her chair with the glasses on, her More >
Illustration Appreciation
Feb 23rd
I can draw a great stick figure (okay, I suck at that too), and appreciate those who go above and beyond. I don’t know why but I am going retro in my appreciation too.
Recent discoveries include Kyle Jones
Matthew Lyons (I have used some of his work as my desktop wallpaper)
I wish I could be an illustrator sometimes. I have to make do with my cameras! Check out these and more on my Visual Mixtape.
